Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship

Holton Community Hospital is a proud sponsor of the Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship.  The Scholarship is designed to encourage enrollment in LPN or RN nursing programs by Kansans committed to practicing in Kansas. Recipients sign an  agreement/promissory note with the State of Kansas to  practice nursing at a specific facility one year for each year of scholarship support. The sponsor provides partial scholarship funding and employment upon licensure of the recipient and the State of Kansas funds the balance.

Anyone interested in a scholarship/sponsorship must complete an employment application on our Career Website, meet for an in-person interview and be awarded an offer of employment prior to applying for the scholarship. An eligible student can work for HCH as a CNA while attending school if openings are available.

Healthworks Health Care Scholarships

Encouraging Excellence and Innovation is the focus of Healthworks’ annual Health Care Scholarship. In this competitive scholarship, the Foundation assists deserving individuals interested in improving their abilities to provide quality care in Kansas. Applications are received during January and February each year. Any individual who is currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited Kansas school for health care is invited to apply. Preference will be given to current hospital employees, particularly those working in a hospital that is licensed for 25 or fewer acute beds. Awards will be given in the following categories:

Student Loan Forgiveness Programs

If you work in public service, you may be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). PSLF is a federal program through the U.S. department of education that can provide financial relief to eligible borrowers working in the public service fields.

Holton Community Hospital partners with TIAA for its retirement savings services for employees.  TIAA offers services through Savi for navigating student loan forgiveness and other financial goal assistance for the employees of HCH.  These are independent programs and not owned or operated by Holton Community Hospital. HCH is committed to helping its employees with benefits and programs such as these.

According to TIAA, “people are saving an average of $1,680 per year through lower monthly payments and an average of $40,000 total in student loan forgiveness. That gives you money for other financial goals, whether it’s building an emergency fund, saving more for retirement or paying off other debts.”
