Revenue Cycle: The Team That Keeps Care Moving
When most people think about healthcare, they picture doctors, nurses, therapists, or emergency responders. Few realize that behind every patient visit is a dedicated Revenue Cycle team working to ensure the right information is available, insurance is processed correctly, medical records remain secure, and patients receive the financial guidance they need.

For August’s Living the Mission: Department Spotlight, we are proud to recognize the Revenue Cycle Department at Holton Community Hospital.
Led by Diana Gaddis, Director of Revenue Cycle, and Heather Naylor, Manager of Patient Financial Services, this team of 19 professionals supports nearly every patient who walks through our doors. Whether working from our hospital or remotely from communities across the country, they share one mission—to help patients navigate the administrative side of healthcare with professionalism, compassion, and excellence.
As Diana explains, the work of Revenue Cycle extends far beyond billing.
“Our Revenue Cycle mission is to protect the organization’s financial health through accurate, compliant billing and collections while providing clear, compassionate support that helps patients understand and navigate their financial responsibilities. Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, answer questions, and help patients feel supported throughout their healthcare journey.”
— Diana Gaddis, Director of Revenue Cycle
The Patient Journey Begins Here
Long before a patient sees a provider, Revenue Cycle is already at work.
For many patients, the first HCH employee they meet is a member of our Registration team. They collect important demographic and insurance information, verify coverage, obtain necessary authorizations, and ensure every patient begins their visit with accurate information.
It may seem like paperwork, but every detail matters.
Correct information helps providers focus on patient care, prevents billing delays, and helps insurance claims move through the process as efficiently as possible.
Just as importantly, Registration staff are often the first smiling face patients see—setting the tone for the entire healthcare experience.
Protecting Every Patient’s Information
Healthcare depends on trust.
Our Health Information Management (Medical Records) professionals are responsible for safeguarding one of the most sensitive responsibilities in healthcare—protecting patient health information.
Every medical record is protected by strict federal privacy laws and handled with the highest level of confidentiality.
This team manages requests for medical records, coordinates information between providers, maintains accurate documentation, and helps ensure clinicians have the information they need to make informed decisions.
Behind every chart is a patient who trusts us with deeply personal information.
That trust is something our Revenue Cycle team never takes lightly.
Helping Patients Navigate Insurance
Healthcare billing is more complicated than most people realize.
Insurance plans have different requirements, coverage limitations, authorization rules, deductibles, copays, and claim processes. A single patient encounter may require coordination among multiple providers, insurance companies, and healthcare organizations.
Our Revenue Cycle professionals work behind the scenes to submit claims accurately, resolve issues when claims are denied or delayed, and communicate with insurance companies on behalf of patients.
Their work helps patients receive the benefits they have earned while ensuring Holton Community Hospital is appropriately reimbursed for the care it provides.
Without this work, hospitals simply cannot continue serving their communities.
Compassion Beyond the Bill
One of the most meaningful responsibilities within Revenue Cycle is helping patients who are worried about medical expenses.
Members of the Business Office work closely with patients to explain bills, answer questions, establish payment arrangements, and guide individuals through Holton Community Hospital’s Financial Assistance Program.
These conversations often happen during stressful moments in a person’s life.
They require patience.
They require empathy.
Most importantly, they require people who understand that behind every account is a person—not just a balance.
The Revenue Cycle team approaches these conversations with compassion and respect, helping patients understand their options while treating every individual with dignity.
Supporting the Mission Every Day
Although much of their work happens behind computer screens, phone calls, secure systems, and confidential records, Revenue Cycle touches nearly every patient experience at Holton Community Hospital.
From the moment a patient registers to the protection of their medical records, from insurance claims to financial assistance, this team helps remove barriers so patients can focus on what matters most—their health.
Their work is complex, highly regulated, and often unseen.
Yet without them, the hospital could not function.
Living the Mission
The Revenue Cycle team exemplifies Holton Community Hospital’s HEART Standard every day.
They serve patients with kindness during difficult conversations.
They protect confidential information with unwavering integrity.
They solve complicated problems with professionalism.
They support every department throughout the hospital while helping ensure HCH can continue providing exceptional care to our community.
To Diana Gaddis, Heather Naylor, and every member of the Revenue Cycle team—thank you.
Your commitment, compassion, and dedication may often happen behind the scenes, but your impact is felt throughout Holton Community Hospital every single day.
