HOLTON, Kansas — Holton Community Hospital is pleased to welcome Kristen Dinkel, APRN-C, as the newest provider joining Holton Family Medicine. Kristen Dinkel APRN C Holton Family MedicineDinkel earned her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) from Graceland University and holds board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She brings valuable clinical experience to the practice, including six years working as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in cardiology.

Originally from Plainville, Kansas, and now residing in Topeka, Dinkel says her background growing up in a small town helped shape her passion for community-based healthcare.

“Growing up in a small town, I appreciate the genuine compassion and relationships that people in a small community have for each other,” Dinkel said. “I believe that spirit is reflected in the quality of care that rural hospitals provide.”

Dinkel emphasizes collaboration and shared decision-making as central to her approach to patient care.

“I prioritize shared decision-making between myself and patients and their families through thoughtful discussions rooted in evidence-based practice,” she said. “I feel a responsibility to give patients the same high-quality care and respect that I would want for my own family members.”

She also encourages patients to take an active role in their healthcare.

“My patients and their families should feel like part of the team,” Dinkel said. “I want to empower patients to participate in medical decisions. I offer information and guidance, but I respect whichever approach they ultimately decide is right for them.”

Dinkel says one of the most rewarding aspects of her profession is building meaningful relationships with her patients.

“The best part about being a nurse practitioner is the relationships I make with my patients and the feeling of making a positive impact on someone’s life,” she said.

Outside of work, Dinkel enjoys gardening, crocheting, attending her son’s sporting events, and spending time with her mini Bernedoodle.

Holton Community Hospital leaders say her experience and commitment to patient-centered care will strengthen the Family Medicine team.
