HOLTON, KANSAS — July 11, 2025 — Holton Community Hospital, Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, and Sabetha Community Hospital are pleased to announce that Dr. Samuel Bruna, a highly skilled and compassionate general surgeon, will begin providing comprehensive surgical services to patients across all three facilities in late August.
Dr. Samuel Bruna, Serving Rural Kansas Communities with Local General Surgery Care
Born and raised in Hanover, Kansas, Dr. Bruna brings deep roots in rural healthcare and a strong commitment to serving communities close to home. “Having grown up in a small town, I’ve always appreciated the close-knit culture and sense of belonging that rural communities offer,” Dr. Bruna shared. “It’s the perfect place to settle down, raise a family, and build meaningful connections.”
Dr. Bruna and his wife, Kelsey (Kramer) Bruna, along with their daughter, Lexi, are excited to return to the area and be closer to family and friends.
Dr. Samuel Bruna, Dedicated to Community and Service
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Bruna served six years as a combat medic in the US Army Kansas Army National Guard and was active as a volunteer firefighter and EMS member. These experiences strengthened his commitment to caring for others and reinforced his passion for hands-on, impactful work.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Kansas State University, graduating summa cum laude, and earned his medical degree and general surgery residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. He was honored with the Thomas G. Orr, Senior Award for his outstanding dedication to surgical care.
