Acute Care & Emergency Services | Holton Community Hospital
Here When It Matters Most
At Holton Community Hospital, our Acute Care and Emergency teams are on the front lines of patient care—providing 24/7 support when our community needs it most. From unexpected emergencies to inpatient recovery, these departments work together to deliver timely, compassionate care close to home.
During National Nurses Week (May 6–12) and National Hospital Week (May 10–16), we recognize the dedicated professionals who make this level of care possible every day.
A VITAL PART OF PATIENT CARE
The Emergency Department at HCH is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions.
For patients requiring additional care, our Acute Care team provides inpatient services including continuous monitoring, skilled nursing care, medication management, and recovery support following illness, injury, or surgery.
Together, these teams ensure a seamless transition from emergency treatment to recovery—keeping patients safe, supported, and close to home.
LIVING THE MISSION
Professionalism. Compassion. Excellence.
Our Acute Care and Emergency teams demonstrate our mission in every moment—responding quickly, communicating clearly, and delivering care with empathy and respect.
Whether it’s a critical emergency or a patient’s road to recovery, their work reflects the HEART of our organization: Hospitality, Empathy, Accountability, Respectfulness, and Teamwork.
NURSING AT THE HEART OF CARE
During National Nurses Week, we recognize the nurses who are at the center of both Emergency and Acute Care.
They are often the first to respond, the steady presence at the bedside, and the advocates for patients and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Their clinical expertise, combined with compassion, defines the patient experience at HCH.
TEAMWORK ACROSS DEPARTMENTS
Exceptional care is a team effort.
Behind every patient is collaboration between Emergency, Acute Care, providers, laboratory, radiology, rehabilitation, and specialty services. This coordination ensures timely diagnoses, effective treatment, and continuity of care throughout the patient journey.
LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE
“Emergency and Acute Care teams are at the heart of what we do as a hospital. They are there for patients and families during some of the most critical and vulnerable moments in their lives.
I am incredibly proud of our nurses and care teams who consistently demonstrate clinical excellence, compassion, and teamwork. Their ability to respond quickly, communicate effectively, and provide high-quality care close to home makes a meaningful difference in our community every single day.”
— Brigette Cowan, Chief Nursing Officer
